Welcome!
This is an on-going project to provide information on a variety of
programming languages. It is intended as a reference for students and
practitioners.
For the most part, I have tried to find the best information put it in
my own words. However, sometimes it is better to take good words and
present them -- I have done that here (check out the
.Net technology section).
The language background page offers a
general overview of programming languages. The "template" page provides an
outline of how I will be looking at programming languages. If you have any
suggestions or ideas to improve this, please let me know.

New:
References page - some useful background stuff (or not). Something to keep in mind:
I have tried to present a "vendor" neutral view of programming
languages whenever possible. This means two things:
- If the language is not vendor neutral, e.g., Visual Basic by
Microsoft, this point does not apply.
- For other languages, e.g., C, there are always subtleties in
implementations by various vendors. I thought about trying to
account for them all -- but I'm not crazy and there are aren't enough
hours in the day.
The point of these pages is to provide some quick and basic background on a
variety of programming languages. It will also provide references to web
sites and resources for more information.
